West End Seniors' Network Plants Avocado Trees in Kenya's Aberdare Forest

VANCOUVER, CANADA. Oasis of Change, Inc. reports that its planting partnership with the West End Seniors' Network (WESN), a community organisation in Vancouver's West End, has funded avocado trees in the Save the Aberdare Forest project in Kenya. The species, Persea americana, is grown there as an agroforestry crop: it restores tree cover on farmland while giving smallholder families fruit they can eat or sell, which is what makes the planting durable rather than something a household has to choose against a harvest.

"WESN is a seniors' organisation a few blocks from where this company is registered, and its members funded a forest in Kenya," said Gabriel Dalton, Oasis of Change. "It is a reminder that reforestation partners do not have to be environmental groups. They just have to decide to do it."

The planting was issued as Tree-Nation certificate 8935829 on March 19, 2026: 900 trees offsetting 45,000 kg of CO₂ across their lifetimes. Those 900 trees are a shared allocation with the Web-Ready by Oasis of Change, Inc. forest, attributed to Web-Ready and excluded from the additive partner total so they are counted exactly once.
